Alice V. Dorsey was born on May 22, 1941 in Indianapolis Indiana to Alice V Brown and William Elmastro Brown Sr. She was one of four children. She lived in Lockfield Gardens. Alice attended elementary schools #27 and #17, and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1959. During her high school years, she was involved in the Pep Club and cheered on the historic basketball team that won a state championship for their school. Alice was also in a club called “Just Between Us” with her good friends Joyce, Becky, and Patricia. They were called the “Big Four”, and they were inseparable.
Crispus Attucks High School is where Alice met her love Charles Dorsey. They were married on January 17th and shared 37 wonderful years together. From this union they had three children: Jeffrey, Pamela, Stacey.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Charles E Dorsey, her mother Alice Brown, her father William Elmastro Brown Sr., and Brother William Brown.
After retirement, Alice enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with her brother Norman, and his family. She would always say, “There is nothing like going on a cruise”. Alice also enjoyed traveling to California, New York City, Tampa, and Chicago. She loved to celebrate special occasions like birthdays and family reunions. She especially loved traveling to Chicago at Christmas to be with her son and his family.
Alice also enjoyed going to music concerts, her favorite was going to see Smoky Robinson at Conner Prairie.
Alice loved her dogs. Her daughter Pamela, nicknamed her “the dog whisperer”😁
Over the years she had three dogs Foxy, Chazzy, and a puppy named Pierre, aka “Butt- Butt”, Pierre was Alice’s protector till the end.
On December 26, 1999, Alice was baptized, along with her grandsons, Gary Jr, Nicholas and sister Sandra at Forest Manor United Methodist Church. Alice was a faithful Christian. She enjoyed helping and volunteering at many of the church events. She was a Sunday school teacher, and also participated in the Ladies Usher Board. She was the Chair of the Pastor Parish Committee. On Sundays, after church, Alice would love to go to MCL Cafeteria, with her sister/ friends Ms. Jackie and Ms. Alberta. Afterwards, they would go visit Alice’s older sister Sandra. Who now resides at Westminster Nursing Home.
Her sister was her best friend, they lived right across the street from one another. They would talk every day several times a day. Alice was a loving, caring, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be greatly missed. “God could not have planted a more perfect seed.

Alice leaves to cherish her memory Son, Jeffrey (Bernina), Daughters, Pamela (Gary Sr.), Stacey (Ramon); Six Grandchildren, Tiara, Gary Jr, Rayna, Nicholas, Peyton, and Evan. Sister, Sandra Taylor and Brother Norman Brown. Close Nieces, Lisa, April, Angie, Kim, Kerrie. Close Nephews, Timmy, Tony, Paris, Keith, and host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
A visitation for Alice will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
