Roy Geis

Predeceased by his parents Martin and Odelia Geis; in-laws Frank and Lillian Thomson; sister Philomena (Abe) Hubick; brothers: Valentine (Jeanneane) Geis, Kenneth (Diane) Geis and Bryce (Roland) Geisam; brothers-in-law: Art Thomson, Frank Thomson, Keith Kenworthy and George Longpre and sister-in-law Mary Geis.

Remembering him is his wife of 60 years, Lillian Geis; three sons: John (Debbie), Robert (Jackie) and Kevin (Bobbi); grandchildren: Brendon, Rachel, Leah, Martin (Kisanne), Jacob, Kaitlyn (Alistair), Cody and Chelsea (Cameron); great-grandchildren: Rhett, Hamilton and Gracie; sister Lillian Longpre; brother Charles Geis; sisters-in-law Noreen Kenworthy and Elaine Thomson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy, the eternal farmer, was born on the farm near Vibank, then ventured to his own homestead near Qu’Appelle, where life was centered around farming. Even after moving to Indian Head in 2004, he didn’t stop playing in the dirt until 2011. Roy was an active citizen in his hometown of Qu’Appelle where he participated and led many clubs, a member of the Indian Head School Board, the Sask Wheat Pool local, the catholic church board and a Chartered Member of the Qu’Appelle Lions Club. He is best known for lending a hand whenever someone called for help. In addition to farming, Roy worked for Sask Crop Insurance and was the icemaker at the Qu’Appelle curling rink for many years. His best days were spent visiting with family and friends.

Roy’s life was celebrated with a funeral mass in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Indian Head, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Francis Hengen. A luncheon and time of fellowship followed the funeral mass. A private family interment was held in the Qu'Appelle Cemetery.
