Herman was a colleague of mine for several years. He was always a happy, cheerful man who would do anything to help you! 

A funny memory ill share....

We had a 797 truck with a loud hoisting noise, multiple people looked at the unit and had a hard time sorting it out. Herman came out to check it out for himself. The mechanic was running the truck raising and lowering the body while he was holding the hoist cylinder to check for vibrations. Once he realized it was the left side and not the right side he was on he ran over to the left side yelling "its not this side, its the other side"!!! His thick German accent and enthusiastic attitude made it that much better!

Dear Hermann
We met as coworkers and became fast friends immediately more than 10 years ago and have stayed close since. You were a brother to me and our families did spent some quality things me together. When working in Regina I was always welcome at your Indian Head castle. Your wife, your daughters and son in laws were great company. My family's sincere condolences to Annemarie and the gals gor their deep loss. I will always remember our great talks in various locations, Ft Mac, Edmonton, Regina and IndianHead. Head on home dear brother 

To our dear friend Hermann and his family

We have known Hermann for a long time. Before he left for Canada  and during the time when he spent his holidays back in Germany  we always had a great time with him, talking, joking and having dinner together.
We loved the way he showed us his friendship in a very open-minded way and always in good mood.
We will miss him very much and we are so sorry that he lost the dramatic fight against cancer.
We have always admired his optimism,  his wilfulness and courage in the fight against the terrible disease. 
These were also the characteristics  in the life he led.

Dear Hermann, may your soul rest in peace.

Rest in peace Hermann and my heartfelt condolences to the family of a great man who was a friend, a mentor, and much more than a colleague to me. 

My fondest memory of out time working together was when at work people started calling me HJ instead of AJ, which stands for Hermann Junior because I started doing things the Hermann Way.

Thank you, Hermann, for showing me the true meaning and courage required to be a professional engineer, and for the shots of that German schnapps, outside of works hours of course. So cheers Hermann, I know you are catching up on that sweet schnapps right now.

I have met you Hermann back 10 years ago when you were at Liebherr and from then on, our paths were connected. It was a great experience to have you join the reliability team at Finning. Unforgotten are the many times we met at work and outside. Your dedication and thoughtfulness, your impressive technical skills and the willingness to help the team are unmatched and much appreciated.
Many times we have spoken about life and challenges of life that we all have to face. With great admiration I have watched you deal with the many difficulties and challenges thrown your way. Your grace, strength and determination in the face of difficulties will live on as a memory and example forever. 

It was such a pleasure and honor to have known you. You have now gone to rest from this world, our loss your freedom. 
Rest in piece my friend, we will meet again sometime.


Hermann, you were our friend and my inspiration. You helped us through a difficult time with your kindness.

It was my privilege and honour to have gotten to know Hermann I first met him when he worked with Finning Canada. 

We were so happy when he joined our team at Suncor in 2018. As a part of our team, Hermann excelled with his deep technical knowledge. Combing his engineering skills  with a practical approach, he helped our business establish the condition monitoring team. I remember how Hermann took our junior engineers under his wing to mentor and coach them. The product of his work will continue for many years.

Hermann was a friend and confidant to me, always willing to support me with great advice. His wisdom, experience and empathy will stay with me always. He holds a very special place in my heart.


A best friend gone too soon is a tragedy. But what would have been worse is never to have met him. I am grateful to have been Herman's friend in life and will continue to be his friend in death, honoring him in all I do."
