It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, devoted father, fun-loving grandfather, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Emerald (Em) Carl Hardy Anderson on October 25, 2021 in Regina, SK. Em was born on May 20, 1955, the fifth of six children to Thomas and Frances (Pearen) Anderson. He was raised on the family farm in the Wide Awake district, north of Indian Head, Saskatchewan.
Em’s first passion was his family and friends, but his second love was farming. He was proud to be the fifth generation of his family to run the Anderson farm. Em could fix any piece of equipment, large or small and always seemed to be able to figure out how to make things work. He had a special connection to Katepwa Lake and was happy to host friends and family making memories at their cottages over the years, finally building their forever home at the lake on the old family property at Pelican Point. Well known for his infectious sense of humour, Em loved a good prank and was always quick with a punchline to bring a smile to your face. His deep belly laugh after a successful prank will never be forgotten.
We are so thankful that he maintained his sense of humour and positive outlook throughout his illness. Everything Em did, he did for his family. His greatest joy was being a grandfather, he maintained an Olympic size hockey rink each winter on the lake, spent countless hours pulling the grandkids behind the boat, playing checkers, reading, building, singing, and teaching them new things including fishing and taking his grandson to the shooting range. Em treasured his northern fishing trips with friends, snowmobiling and traveling the globe with Maureen. Em’s love of his family was deep and strong. That love, and the memories he left for us will be treasured always. Em’s kind, genuine personality touched every person who knew him; he will be truly missed.
Em will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his wife of 46 years, Maureen; children Tanya (Ryan) Olson, Rhea (Myles) Bokinac, Jennifer (Adam) Burwell; grandchildren Brandon, Sydney, Callie, Carson, Kaden and Luca; father-in-law Stanley Hammett; siblings Brooklyn, Cheryl, Elaine (Bob), Diane (Ben), Les (Linda); siblings-in-law Laurel, Robert (Carmela), Kevin (Roseann); and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Em’s life was held in the Indian Head Memorial Hall, Indian Head, Saskatchewan on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Masks and proof of covid vaccination was mandatory for attendance. Livestreaming will be available with the link that is posted below for those who prefer to attend virtually.
