Bob was a great friend and a true philatelist.  Every thing he did was  with the passion of a perfectionist.  His counsel will be dearly missed.  We are less without him.

 Bob had so much patience when teaching the classes on exhibiting.  He never lost his cool when we didn't understand what he was telling us how to do something,   He made the frames that we use for exhibits.  He will be missed my our group as he was always at the meetings with a big smile.

I am so sad to hear about Bob.  We worked together at USDA for several years.  He was always a joy to talk with and interact with.  So kind of a person.  My condolences to his family.

We always enjoyed Bob’s company he was a very interesting guy. Any hobby he did he was amazing! His determination   to excellent was unbelievable !   From his paintings to his miniatures towns along his trains set, to his fly tiring,  to his stamp collection he would not settle for anything less than perfection! He was a great guy and  we will miss him and seeing what hobby he is doing next time we visit!  I am sure where ever he is he’s already working on something ! We will miss you Bob!

In the pursuit of our philatelic hobby, Bob and I made several trips together. I have many fond memories of those times together that it’s difficult to select one.
 The several day trip we took to attend the APS Summer Show and exhibit in Richmond, VA, stands out in my mind. Bob was exhibiting his gold medal China stamp exhibit. On the way to Richmond, we visited 4 Civil War battle grounds where one of Bob’s ancestors (great great great grandfather I think) had participated. True to Bob’s nature, he had spent a significant amount of time before we went researching each battle, including detailed hand drawn maps and charts. His devotion to this history greatly enhanced my enjoyment. 
We also took a trip to Chicago on Amtrak where he participated in a national stamp exhibition. This was a first for me and Bob made it special. 
For several years, we enjoyed Saturday breakfast, until COVID came along. 
I count Bob as one of my true friends with whom I could discuss anything. His passing leaves a hole in my life that will not be filled.

Bob and I would frequently have Saturday morning breakfast and it wasn't uncommon to talk until the lunch crowd arrived.   My biggest regret was not knowing him sooner!  Bob was a man of many passions.  I am sincerely going to miss my friend! 

I have known Bob for about 15 years and I considered him a close friend. We were avid stamp collectors and met at Kansas City Philatelic Society.  His passing hit me by total surprise, just recently ate supper with him and as always it was a great time. Bob was a man of passion for his friends and interests, and I will miss him greatly. My deepest condolences go out to his family. He will be greatly missed! Rest In Peace my friend. Bill Johnson
