Rick Turner – age 62 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday July 4th, 2019 peacefully after a long tortuous struggle with signet ring cell carcinoma-metastatic colon cancer (SRCC).
Rick was the 3rd child born to Tommy and Icie Turner. On July 23rd, 1977 Rick was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Anita Stanard. Rick was a union laborer for Archer Daniels Midland in North Kansas City, MO for 32 years until the plant closed in 2011.
He had many friends at the flour mill during those years. In January 2013, Rick proudly received his high school equivalence. Later that year he became a clerical employee. In August of that same year he survived a heart attack.
Ricky’s team members were the “BEST” at PAE in Lee's Summit these last few years. Rick had a heart of gold, never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
Deer hunting with his daughter Nikki was a great passion. Gardening and yard work was a favorite pastime. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
Rick was preceded in death by his father Tommy Turner, mother-in-law Zita (Butkovich) Stanard, father-in-law Jimmy Stanard, and nephew Jason Walden.
Survivors include: wife, Anita of the home; daughter Nikki (Pete) Poff of Oak Grove; mother, Icie Turner, brother, Thomas (Sandy) Turner; brother, Jackie Turner all of Polo; sister, Sherry (Will) Ramey of Raytown; brother, Timmy (Bambi) Turner of Independence; brother-in-law Al Walden, sister-in-law Vicki Walden which are also his godparents of Independence, many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
