Richard Sylvester Lafata, age 80, of Independence, Missouri, passed away November 25, 2022. He was the first child of Joseph Lafata and Cecilia Sam Lafata and was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 21, 1942. Richard attended Denby High School, served in the Army and worked for Ford. In 1974, Richard and his family moved from Michigan to Oklahoma and continued to work for Ford until retirement. Then in 2010, Richard moved to Independence, Missouri to be closer to his daughter, son in law and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara and second wife Rita. He is survived by his first wife Sandra and their children Anthony, Julie and Joseph, as well as his son in law Ron and two grandchildren Tyler and Alexsandra.
Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW Post 1000, 1002 E. US HWY 24 #3106, Independence, Missouri 64050, on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 12-3pm.
When Everydays’
