Kathleen Alice Cherry, 68 years old, of Blue Springs, Missouri. Affectionately known as Kathy to everyone who knew her. She passed away August 25, 2020 surrounded by her beloved family at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, Missouri.
She was born on October 13, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of George and Donna Mahaffy, and a sister to Mary (Lyons) Randall, Connie (Mahaffy) Nichols, Robin (Mahaffy) Wormsley, and Karen (Mahaffy) Hatch.
She married the love of her life and best friend, George Cherry, on December 31, 1982 in Kathy’s family home of Independence, Missouri. They were married for thirty-seven wonderful years. Kathy had three children, Terri Lynn Menne, Gregory Allan Menne, and Christopher Mark Cagle.
Kathy was a graduate of Truman High School in 1969. After high school she worked serval jobs, including work at South Western Bell, being an accountant at AMC theaters, and an office manager at Laramie Tires, which allowed her to travel to many different cities around the country.
Kathy was a kindhearted and compassionate daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed to crochet, and in her early years she was fond of singing and dancing.
Kathy was proceeded in death by, her parents Donna (Stineman) and George Mahaffy, daughter Terri Lynn Menne, sisters Mary (Lyons) Randall, Robin (Mahaffy) Wormsley, Karen (Mahaffy) Hatch, and her brother in-law Dave Nichols. The survivors being her husband George Cherry, sons Gregory (Jennifer) Menne, Christopher (Rochelle) Cagle, grandchildren Taylor Menne, Gregory Menne Jr., Breeana Cagle, Benjamin Cagle, Bella Cagle, and Birdie Cagle and her sister Connie (Mahaffy) Nichols. And many nieces and nephews.
Kathy’s services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel funeral home in Independence, Missouri. The visitation is at 10:00 am, and the
funeral to follow at 11:00 am. Interment services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence, Missouri at 12:00 pm.
