James L. Ogle, of Independence, MO, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 18, 2023, one day before his 91st birthday. We have great peace knowing that he is pain free and resting in the Lord.
James was born on March 19, 1932 in Tribune, MO to James Edgar Ogle and Cordelia Viola (Jackson) Ogle. James had 5 sisters and 4 brothers: Grace, Merle, Winnie, Jack, Don, Ollie Mae, Dorothy, Holly and Raymond. James was married to Frances (Callahan) on May 13, 1956 and they enjoyed almost 67 wonderful years. They had 2 children Jamie L. (Ogle) Gurley and Terry D. Ogle (Anita), 3 grandchildren: Garrett Ogle (Marsha), Addie (Ogle) Bennett (Josh) and Weston Ogle (Stephanie) and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 of his siblings and his daughter, Jamie. He is survived by his wife Frances, brother Holly, son Terry (Anita) and all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
James was a Korean War Veteran in the Army Airborne. He was proud to serve his country. He worked at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant as a Quality Assurance Specialist for 32 years.
James did mission construction all over Missouri and surrounding states. He loved this work and was in charge of the buildings that would become Country Meadows Baptist Church. James was a charter member at Country Meadows Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee. It brought him much joy and blessings to be able to tithe and give to his church. He was part of the Gideon’s and helped send Bibles to be distributed around the world. He helped assemble Bibles at Bible Conferences with a special conference at his church for the Philippines.
He enjoyed gardening and was well known for his beautiful flower gardens. He was always baking pies and desserts and making his famous, home-made jelly. He liked playing basketball and was on his high school basketball team. He was a season ticket holder for the NAIA basketball tournament for years.
Most of all James loved Jesus, his family and his church family. He will be greatly missed.
