He was preceded in death by his parents: Louise and Franklin Main. Grandparents: Clara and Lewis Cass. Nellie and Charles Burchett. Aunt/Uncle: Lorene and Harold Sumption, Brother-in-Law: Lee Hughes.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his daughters: Tanya Butler, Eve, Lily Fe, Cooper. Nichole Barnett and Husband Dave Barnett. Sister:Nancy Hughes. Wife: Sharon Main. Oter family members include Myrna and Steve Aldrich, Jeff and Elizabeth Aldrich, David and Angela Aldrich, Emma, Max, Leanne and Isaac Tupinio, Rayn, Jack, Anna, Leo, Scott and Jen Cheffein, Milo, Henry, Allie, Katey, Eathan. Along with many close friends and neighbors.
His family lived on a small farm close to Lamoni, Iowa where he grew up and graduated, in 1965 from Lamoni Community High School. He attended Ottawa University and Graceland College part time before starting a career with Hy-Vee Food Stores, with whom he had worked for during his high school years. He worked at several stores starting in Lamoni, Bethany, Iowa City, Des Moines, Ankeny, Creston, Osceola and Lee’s Summit. He retired in 2001 after working in several departments and management.
When he retired in 2001 he always said “I don’t miss the work, but I miss the customers and most of all, those I worked with”. He enjoyed retirement with several interests and hobbies. He mostly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow.
He joined St. Mark's Catholic Church in 2014 and became active with the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Ministries and gained so many friends in the church.
He would want to share his love to his daughters, sister, wife and all of his family and friends by thanking everyone for letting him be a part of their lives.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Holy Rosary in Clinton, MO. Visitation at 11am followed by a prayer service at 12pm. Burial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 15th at Rosehill Cemetery in Lamoni, IA.
