Floyd Ernest Hidy passed away September 26, 2017, at his home in Blue Springs. He was born in Trenton, Nebraska, July 2, 1930, to Lonnie and Rena (Rodgers) Hidy. Funeral services will be held on October 1, 2017 at 2pm, with visitation prior to service at 1pm, services are being held at Newcomers Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64050. Floyd moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1944, and graduated from Boulder High School in 1949. It was here that he met his wife Monte Mae Ginn. Mae survives him after 67 years of marriage. He was in the Army during the Korean War, after which he worked for International Harvester (now Navistar) for 33 years, and retired in 1985. Floyd became a published poet writing many poems about the love of his life Mae. Floyd and Mae had 3 children. Floyd is preceded in death by their first born child, Karen Kay Wiley Smith. He is survived by his wife Monte Mae Ginn Hidy, their son Charles Ernest Hidy of Independence, MO and their daughter Lona Lyn (Danny) Zink of Oakwood, GA., a sister Lula Peterson of Wheat Ridge, CO, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Floyd is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Kimberly (Bill) Cole, Tonya (Mike) Rains, Nancy (Danny) Allgaier, Holly (Jon) Pennell, Dr. Matthew (Dr. Megan) Hidy, Natalie Zink and David Zink, as well as 11 great grandchildren; Natasha Hyder, Jonathan Rains, Jessica Rains, Daniel Allgaier, Dillon Allgaier, Madison Allgaier, Lauren Pennell, Emma Pennell, Henry Jon Pennell, and 3 great great grandchildren; Brayden Cole Hyder, Sophie and Lillian.
