Eric Jason Froning

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Eric Jason Froning, our beloved son and brother, tragically passed away at home in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 28, 2022, at the age of 37. Eric was born June 6, 1985, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Eric will be missed everyday by his father, Gary Michael Froning, his mother Norma "Joy" (Casey) Froning and brother Brian Michael Froning.

Eric was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri. He took karate lessons during his elementary school years and played football in his middle school years. In middle and high school, Eric played the clarinet and saxophone. He graduated from Raytown South High School in 2003. Following high school, Eric became a skilled repairman and excellent mechanic.

Eric began his career opportunities at the young age of 13 at the Greenhouse, a Flower and Garden Nursery. A few years later, he was the manager at Valvoline Oil change on 40 highway. Eric worked at Victor L. Phillips in several positions, including shipping and receiving, where he gained lasting friendships with many of his co-workers. Eric worked in construction doing framing and remodeling with Jeff Gardner. Also in the construction field, he did tile installation with Bryan Browning.

Eric’s hobbies included Rock & Roll, large bon fires and 4-wheeling. As his brother, Brian, said with pride – “he could make any old junkie 4-wheeler run”. He was an avid KC Chiefs and Royals fan.

He leaves behind his father, Gary Michael Froning of Kansas City, Missouri, his mother, Norma (Joy) Froning of Kansas City, Missouri, his brother Brian Michael Froning of Kansas City, Missouri. Also surviving are a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather - George H. Froning, paternal grandmother - Irene Froning, maternal grandfather - Dale Purviance Casey, maternal grandmother - Mary Ruth Casey, and several aunts, an uncle and a cousin.

Since Eric’s death, many have commented about how special he was and how fortunate they were to have known him.

A memorial gathering for Eric will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, 509 S Noland Road, Independence, Missouri 64050, followed by a memorial sharing from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts in Eric's name in care of the funeral home.
