Carolyn was born July 10, 1942, in Unionville, Missouri to Harold and Wilma (Vandel) Medlin. Carolyn was married to Jim Jobe on March 5, 1960, just before her high school graduation. Soon after, they made their home in Independence, Missouri. She was a homemaker who was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed hosting pool parties in the back yard, loved reading, which she also did in the pool on her floaty. One of her grandchildren asked her why she didn’t leave the floaty and swim with them and she told them she “swam like a rock” (because she couldn’t swim)! She loved working with her flowers, watching the Kansas City Royals and college basketball. She loved music and enjoyed attending country music concerts at Worlds of Fun, Santa-Cali-Gon and Crown Center. She was a great support to daughter Natalie, as Natalie learned to play guitar and perform. She took pride watching her son, Alan play Pop Warner Football. She was an expert seamstress, making many children’s clothes as well as several beautiful crochet blankets. She loved traveling with Jim and camping with her family – one of her favorite trips was to the Smoky Mountains. She made many memories with her girlfriends on trips and walking daily at The Independence Center. She was a recent member of Sycamore Hills Baptist Church. Prior to that, she was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and took her grandsons, AJ and Austin with her. They remember being there early where they were able to enjoy extra cookies and punch. She was a faithful Christian who loved praising her Savior and reading His word. She was a cinema fan, like her grandchildren Eric and Jaime. They loved to talk about the recent movies. She offered great recommendations and a few spoilers for them.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Wilma. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, James Jobe of almost 63 years; her daughter, Natalie (John) Mills of Independence, Missouri; her son, Alan (Renee) Jobe of Independence, Missouri; her four grandchildren: Eric (Nisha) Mills of Parkville, MO; Jaime (Kyle) Russell of Blue Springs, MO; AJ (Anna) Jobe of Odessa, MO and Austin Jobe of Independence; her six great grandchildren: Nathan Russell, Sam Russell, Gunner Jobe, Evan Mills, Meera Mills and Blair Mills.
