Sally Dixon Hartin, 81 of Centerville, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her five children on August 17, 2017 after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Sally was born and raised in Centerville. She graduated from Barnstable High School in 1953 and Colby College in Waterville, ME in 1957. After Colby, Sally worked for Liberty Mutual in Boston where she met her loving husband Edward of 54 years. They moved to Wilbraham, MA where they lived for over 25 years and raised their 5 children. They eventually retired to Cape Cod. She and her family were very active in youth sports for many years. She was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed tennis and reading. For 10 years she worked as a realtor in Wilbraham and she was a member of the Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Sally, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother was predeceased by her loving husband Edward. She leaves behind her daughters Cindy and her husband Jim Brunton of Springfield, MA, Debbie and her husband Jimmy Kelly of Walpole, MA, Kathy and her husband Jim Hyatt of Walpole, MA, sons John and his wife Andrea Hartin of Hampden, MA and Dave and his wife Julie Hartin of Brentwood, NH. She will be truly missed by her cherished grandchildren who brought so much joy into her life: Eddie, Tommy, Billy, Monica and Clare Brunton, Katharyn and Sarah Kelly, Andy, Mike, Becky, Mary and Joey Hyatt, Hailee, Johnny, Charlie and Sydnee Hartin, Griffin and Alexandria Hartin. She also leaves her brother Skip Dixon of Hyannis as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her family is very grateful to the wonderful staff at Norwood Hospital, Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, MA and the Cape Regency Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Centerville, MA for their compassionate care of Sally.
Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday August 23, 2017 from 4-7 PM at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St, Hyannis, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main St, Centerville, MA followed by a committal service at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sally’s memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation or a charity of your choice.
