Richard “Richie” Alan Maddox, 48, of Hyannis, passed away on September 20, 2016, surrounded by his loving family members. Richie was born in Wichita, KS to his devoted parents Harry Ray Maddox and the late Rosalie (Gomes) Maddox. After Richie was born, they soon moved to Hyannis where he grew up, eventually attending Barnstable High School, class of 1986. Richie loved sports, in high school he excelled in track and field and football, earning him Varsity Letters in each sport; he was also an avid lacrosse player throughout his youth. A lifelong Georgia Bulldogs fan, he followed his passion for football by coaching the Barnstable Youth Football for six years. Always a strong and commanding presence, Richie enjoyed nineteen years in the honorable career of the Barnstable Sherriff’s Department until his passing. Richie always had the best sense of humor, never leaving anyone without a smile on their face, a true passion for contributing his time and effort to make the community even stronger. Richie didn’t even stop giving in death, with the opportunity to give of himself life-saving and life-enhancing organ donation.
Richie will truly be missed by his caring father, Harry Ray Maddox, his loving second mother, Joyce H. Maddox, his faithful wife, Michelle (Stevens) Maddox, his two precious daughters, Peyton Michelle Maddox and Sydney Maria Maddox as well as his dedicated siblings, Pamela Maddox Lewis, Stanley Ray Maddox, Trisha Michelle Souza and Bruce W. Souza . He will also be fondly remembered by his aunt, Eileen Lopes and uncle, George Edward Maddox, nephews, Hasan Ali, Jacquie Mattos-Solomon, John Tompkins, Jordan Maddox, Lexi Maddox, Rosalie Maddox, his two great-nephews and great-niece as well as several treasured cousins.
A Memorial Visitation in Richie’s honor will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 3-6 PM at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601.
