Paula was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on September 27, 1940 to Thomas A. Queenan and Helen (Drury) Queenan. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts from the College of Saint Elizabeth and then joined the reproductive sciences research lab team at Johnson and Johnson in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Paula married her husband, Bill in 1963 and lived in New Jersey, California, and then Rota, Spain before moving with their 4 children to Centerville, MA in 1974. Paula received her Master of Social Work degree from Boston College in 1991. She then worked as a licensed clinical social worker on Cape Cod with a principle focus on care of the elderly.
Paula was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Victory in Centerville, MA and volunteered in several ministries including music, education, and the Ministry of Hope. She also served as a Eucharistic minister during Mass and brought communion to parishioners in their homes.
She was an avid reader and golfer, a skilled bridge player, and above all enjoyed spending time with her family and her six grandchildren.
Paula was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, William James Connolly, MD of Centerville, MA. She is survived by her daughter AnnaMarie Connolly of Arlington, VA; her son and daughter-in-law Bill and Sarah Connolly of Weston, MA; her son and daughter-in-law Patrick and Christine Connolly of Irvine, CA; her son and daughter-in-law Dan and Valerie Connolly of Chester, NJ; her grandchildren Laine, Patrick Michael, Trevor, Kate, Will, and Abby Connolly; her sister-in-law Phyllis M. Connolly of Nipomo, CA; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Tricia and Drew Van Dam of Flanders, NJ.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Doane, Beal, and Ames, at 160 West Main St, Hyannis, MA, 02601. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, MA.
