Paul was raised in Marblehead at his family’s waterfront marine business where he developed a life-long love of sailing and all things related to the sea. His life on the water included assisting with running the Marblehead Marine Center, traveling across oceans on board research vessels, sailing Tern, their 100 year old Friendship Sloop around Marblehead and to Maine, and culminated in an esteemed career as a NAMS marine surveyor specializing in wooden vessels small and large such as the USS Constitution, the Mayflower II, the presidential yacht Sequoia, the Ernestina and many more.
Paul received great comfort from his faith, and his church family. From his conversion to the catholic faith at Saint Joan of Arc in Orleans to St Francis Xavier in Hyannis he was a daily communicant and active in all parish activities, a proud member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus and their Honor Guard.
As a loving, devoted and supportive husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather, Paul was ever present in the lives of his family. Serving the role of Patriarch to the extended family, he was a pillar of support and a provider of sound advice and guidance to all. One of his many gifts to Betty was digging the holes and walls to build beautiful gardens at their homes.
An early adopter of social media, Paul kept our family connected and informed and amused. His love and devotion for his wife Betty and daughter Catherine was immense and witnessed by all.
Paul is survived by wife Elizabeth Quadros, daughter Catherine Haley, step-children Lydia (Nutting) Sobocinski, John Nutting, Mathew Nutting, Heather (Stubbs) Beideck. brother David Haley, and sisters Suzanne Haley and Sally (Haley) Seaborn, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by father John (Jack) Haley, mother Marcia Moss, step-mother Lois Haley, and sister Judith Daponte.
