Patsy was the beloved wife of USAF MSGT Roger Cahill, whom she met in 1949 at The Lakeside Ballroom in Shrewsbury, MA. Patsy and Roger married in Texas in 1953 and together, they traveled the world. They lived 58 happy years together in Texas, Tripoli, Turkey, Alaska, Virginia, London and settled on Cape Cod in 1976. She will now join Roger, who passed away in March of 2012, again.
The “World’s Bestest Wife, Mother, Grammy and Great Grammy” will live on through her adoring daughters and their families, Colleen Cahill, her son Carey Daly and Colleen’s partner, Michael Dangelo of Centerville, MA; Bridget Cahill, her husband Craig Caldwell and their children, Colleen Cunha, her husband Ben Blumenthal and their son, Beau of Los Angeles, CA, Evan Cunha of Manayunk, PA, Shea Cunha, Caleb Caldwell, Mia Caldwell and Ben Caldwell of Brewster, MA; Julie Cahill-O’Shea, her husband Stephen O’Shea and their children Molly O’Shea and Solana O’Shea of Reading, MA.
The 9th of 10 children born to Julia (Keating) and John Senior, Patsy was the last one standing for the past ten years. The “Favorite Aunt” to many, she had over 60 nieces and nephews. Raised in Worcester, MA, she was predeceased by all of her siblings, George Senior, Jack Senior, Bob Senior, Dorothy Gallivan, Marion Quitadamo, Marge Braney, Francis “Buddy” Senior, Paul Senior and Kathleen Whitaker. Patsy leaves behind her dear Sister-in-Law, Clare Cahill of Oxford.
Patsy worked for Riley Stoker and Norton Company in Worcester until she left home to marry Roger in San Antonio, TX. Years later, after settling in Harwich, she worked at the Harwich Town Hall for 18 years.
Patsy told wonderful stories of the friends she and Roger made during their years abroad, the beautiful places they saw and the fun times they shared throughout their days together. She often talked of her memorable experiences surviving the Worcester Tornado of 1953 (weeks before her wedding) and the Great Alaskan Earthquake of 1964.
Patsy carried with her an appreciation for the good times and people that filled her life, remarking a few days before her passing, that “as I think back on my life, it was even better than I thought it was”. She was selfless and considerate of others, never putting her interests first. Friends will remember her as the “nicest, kindest person” they’ve ever met and her family will attest to the truth of that. Patsy was strong but gentle and taught her daughters to appreciate life, fully. Somehow, she gave each of them the tools they needed to grow into happy, good people, and subtly encouraged them to raise their own children in the same manner that she did.
Being a grandmother (and great grandmother) brought her more joy than anything else in Patsy’s world. She was in awe of every one of her grandchildren, rarely acknowledging that she deserved some credit for the good in each of them. Patsy couldn’t believe how “lucky” she was with regard to her family.
Patsy will be missed every day by all who were lucky enough to have been loved by her. In her memory, Patsy’s family asks that you be kind, be happy and smile whenever you can.
