May Olivia Brodt Rest In Peace. She was such a beautiful and kind girl. She was also very talented in many ways. She knew how to play the sport of volleyball very well and she was just a nice person in general. May peace and love be with her family.

Olivia was a student in two of my Babson College courses; it was an honor for me to have been her teacher and, in the course of many conversations, come to know her better as a person.  In addition to her many talents, it seems to me that Olivia's greatest gifts were her clear-eyed honesty, deep intelligence, informed spirit, and boundless compassion. She spoke to me many times of the love and appreciation she felt for her family (and not just in connection with support during her illness), as well as her home community. It was an honor to coach Olivia in her first year on the Babson volleyball team. She sparked energy and enthusiasm both on and off the court. I had only a short time to get to know her but Olivia's kind heart, energetic spirit and strong sense of commitment to all that she took on will stay with me for a lifetime.

Craig and Brenda... Had a very vivid dream that I saw you guys in a parking lot on the cape and I ran over and hugged both of you with no words said.  I know we have not been really been in touch over the years, but you guys were a big part of my days at GMC in the art building. Always thought very highly of you both, and it's hard to know you are going through all of this.

Craig and Brenda, My heart just aches for you. I am at work, looking at a small photo album I keep here. I am looking at pictures of Olivia and James (probably pre-school), snuggling in their pj's on our couch. James' cheeks are bright red from blushing and Olivia is lit up like a Christmas tree! She was James' very first crush and they were so sweet together. I remember of us all taking them trick or treating. Those wonderful memories will always be with us. My sweet James passed away over two years ago so I believe they are together again. You are all in my heart! Mina Vaughan

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brodt: I was so sorry to hear about Olivia's passing.  I had the great pleasure of teaching her during her first year at Babson College.  I was so impressed by her grace and kindness, as well as her intellectual depth and thoughtfulness.  In her time at Babson, she made such a positive impression on both her professors and her fellow students.  We will all miss her. I heard about Olivia and her family through my daughter, Hannah. How crazy talented Olivia was in dance, volleyball, school, art, swimming and just being someone special you wanted to hang out with. How Caroline was the little sister Hannah wanted, if she could have one. How Brenda and Craig made their home into a place of warmth and welcome with spectacular displays during the holidays. It sounded too good to be true.

But then you meet them- quietly, because that's who they are. A solid family unit that at first glance seems to have a protective wall around them. But the more you observe, you notice the wall has great flexibility. Olivia's life seemed limitless. She crisscrossed her passions simultaneously and stretched that wall to encompass a great swath of people who took pleasure in watching her and being with her.

But Olivia and her family had their greatest test ahead of them with Olivia's illness. Why life throws such curveballs at us is hard to explain. Perhaps Olivia was chosen- because we need people like Olivia to shake up our world. Through her ability to transcend the enormity of her discomfort we took notice. Because of her compassion for people she chose to be strong- for us. Her faith allowed her to keep her smile and hold strong to all the people she had touched because that gave her strength as well.

Thank you, Brenda, Craig and Caroline for sharing Olivia. We've all been blessed to have been a part of your joy and can only hope Olivia's strong spirit will continue to carry us forward through our time of sorrow.

Craig, Brenda, & Caroline, No words can express the great loss that I feel in my heart for Olivia.  I feel so blessed to have been touched in so many places of my life by her.  She set examples for us all throughout her life, and we should all strive to be the kind of person she was.   Her memory will always fill my heart with JOY!

She had such an amazing smile that lit up the room when she entered along with a gracious heart.  She truly touched my heart and her presence will never be forgotten.  May God Bless you all.

That family lives so far apart in this day and age is sad.  Despite the miles between us as distant cousins, we feel the enormity of your loss.  Olivia held a place in our prayers nightly through her ordeal.  We know she is now at peace with no more suffering, and we know, too, from our own experiences that she will always live in the hearts and memories of those who knew her. Your Olivia was a truly beautiful person. Although John and I had only met her briefly at a BHS football game, even then it was so obvious, with her huge smile and kind eyes, how very special she was.  Olivia had such a joyful spirit that clearly touched many people.  Our son Jack had gotten very close to Olivia in the last year and he is devastated at her passing.  He had often come home from a visit with the Brodts', telling stories of Olivia's strength, bravery and optimism in the face of the unimaginable.  Even at 17, Jack recognized the unique specialness of Olivia.  Olivia was kind enough to invite our young daughter Ally as her guest to watch a Volleyball game at BHS.  Olivia made Ally feel so special that day, and Ally was hooked. Ally couldn't wait to hang out again with her new best friend Olivia.  How Olivia  could have such an impact so quickly and completely on my daughter is a testament to Olivia's pure goodness.  We mourn the loss of such a beautiful soul and express our deepest condolences to the Brodt family.

I see a great many students in the Undergrad Career Center and I remember Olivia.  She was without a doubt one of the nicest!  I will remember her in my prayers and hope that your lovely memories of her will help you and although she may be away from us she is in a kind and gentle place now ... just like her.

I only met Olivia on a few occasions playing beach volleyball and her kindness and smile always struck me.  I was a stranger and she made me feel welcome.  My sincere condoleances to Caroline, her parents and close ones.  May her love stay in your hearts.

She was a bright spot in my tech classes...smart, joyful, respectful...always so full of life and laughter. My heart aches for you all on your loss. Such a beautiful life ended way too soon. Olivia's light has clearly shined brightly upon a vast number of people in your community and across the country. As family members, we feel very connected to Olivia and your whole family. Through I did not know Olivia personally, I was able to see the light she spread throughout her life. Though she is gone, I hope that we all can learn a lesson from the way she lived her life, through sickness and health, and happiness and sadness. She was a remarkable human being who has touched so many in her short life. I am praying for her family and those close to her.

We were so saddened Caroline, to hear that your beloved sister's battle with cancer has ended.  May the memories of the love and laughter you shared together, dry your tears of sorrow in the coming days. Olivia's Light Will Always Shine Brightly

We hold Olivia and her family in our thoughts, prayers and hearts. Our deepest condolences.

It is with deepest regret and sadness that Olivia is in eternal sleep. While her breath was in the world she was a light and beacon to many. We are sure she lived a fuller and richer life than most people her age. No words can convey the remorse we have as our hearts too are heavy. Lean on those who want to be supportive. We will lift you up! Be Olivia's rock in support of all that she held dear and closest to her. Be there for your wife, your daughter and your husband as each tries to comprehend the meaning of something that appears to have no meaning.
