Lucille Napolitano Guerrini Burks, 83, known to friends and family as “Lou” and “Nonni”, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, October 9, 2020 at her home in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts with her family close by.
Lou was born December 15, 1936 in Boston to Helen “Nellie” Gallo and Antonio “Tony” D’Alessandro and grew up in the Italian North End of Boston.
On June 27, 1953 in York, Maine, Lou married Richard Antony Guerrini. On July 26, 1997, Lou married the love of her life, Chester “Chet” Arnold Burks of Natick, Massachusetts.
Lou’s work and personal life centered around her love of cooking and baking. She was the kitchen manager of Hopkinton Junior/Senior High School for many years and also ran a successful cake business providing elaborately decorated cakes for local weddings, birthdays, and other events. Her license plate read “CakeLady”. Lou was also an accomplished quilter and gifted stained glass artist whose home was filled with light filtered through her many beautiful glass creations.
Lou’s heart was full of love and there was enough for everyone. She was funny, kind, and endlessly generous with her caring and love, as well as her cookies and wonderful food. Family, and especially her grandchildren, were deeply important to her.
She is survived by her sister Roberta Mintner and husband Robert, her daughter Jean T. Alman and husband Barry, her son Michael R. Guerrini and wife Kathy, her son Steven J. Guerrini and fiance Darya Coldwell, her grandchildren: Benjamin Alman, Nicholas Alman, Geralyn Guerrini-Carr, Carli Guerrini, Matthew Guerrini, Jillian Loving and husband Will, and brother-in-law Scott Taylor, as well as her husband Chet’s 7 children and 10 grandchildren. Lou was preceded in death by her husbands Richard and Chet, her sister Leila, and her grandson Steven.

Calling hours are 10:00am-12:00 noon followed by prayers from 12-12:30 led by Deacon Patrick Guerrini. There will be an opportunity for anyone who knew Lou to share memories. The funeral will follow after the wake at Otis Air Force base in Bourne at the Rt. 28 Rotary. After the ceremony, please join us at TikiPort on Rt. 132 (Iyannough Rd. Hyannis) for food, drink and sharing good memories.
