Born in Karmoy, Norway on September 1, 1932, he was a son of the late Peter and Anna Hansen. As a young child, Leif experienced the Nazi invasion of his village. He went on to bravely serve as a member of the Merchant Marines while living in Norway.
Leif immigrated to the United States in 1969 and became a United States Citizen in 1975; an accomplishment he was extremely proud of. He worked as a fisherman in New Bedford until settling on Cape Cod. Prior to his retirement, Leif worked for Cazeault Roofing Company. He also owned a landscaping business up until the age of 82.
In addition to his wife, Vivian, he is survived by four sons in Norway; three step-children; and his brother, Sigurd Hansen; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leif was predeceased by his brother, Magne Kristian.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 7th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Pine St., Centerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Leif’s name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Cape & Islands District to help those in need.
