Do you love the sunshine on a beautiful day? Well that was Kimberly Anne Jones. Her smile lit up the world.
Kimberly passed away on August 14, 2019. Now the sun has another ray of light.
Kim loved playing soccer and softball as a child and into her teen years. This is where the name Kimbo came from.
As she grew Kimbo coached softball with her mom and went on the coach soccer, volleyball and softball in her middle schools where she was teaching.
Speaking of teaching she loved teaching teenagers, to this end she went to University of Vermont and received and Bachelors Degree in History and English and then continued there to receive a Master’s Degree in Middle School Education. You might ask “Why middle school?” well she thought of her brother (who she loves dearly) which grade would she like to teach him in? Middle School or High School? Middle School it is.
Taber City, NC and Loris SC is where she got her feet wet in teaching Middle School. The friendships Kim made there brought her great joy, and the job of bringing the love of reading and writing to her students challenged her to excel more.
After much thought and discussions the family chose to move to Massachusetts to be closer to family and the Boston hospitals for a kidney transplant.
When she was hired at Mattacheese Middle School she new she had found her teaching home, besides, a school with her favorite food in the title (cheese) has to be great.
Kim loved getting up to go to school. Never had a day that she did not look forward to teaching. Even with dialysis three nights a week she loved her life on the Cape. Made some more great friends, but that seems to be Kim’s MO, friends everywhere.
Over the last 20 + years she has dealt with kidney problems and was fighting her body most of the time. This time it was just too much and the fight was over.
She is survived by her mother Holly Robinson Jones, of Yarmouth Port, MA ,her brother Joshua M. Jones, of S. Burlington, VT, her sister Megan L Jones of Yarmouth Port, MA and her father Steven M Jones of Stockton, CA.
It would be impossible to mention all her friends and family that she loved, so I will just say “Thank you all for being a part of her life. “
In memory of Kimberly, a fund to help students enjoy sports at Mattacheese Middle School has been established. Contributions can be made to:
