John E. Nowlan of Centerville on December 26, 2016 at the age of 96. He was pre-deceased by his wife Claire, daughter, Patricia and second wife Bettie. He is survived by his children, John Jr (Karen), Christopher (Laurie), Paula Nowlan Beasley, William and grandchildren, Susan (Greg) Holden, Erin Beasley (Jeff King), Katie Beasley (Brooke), Kristen (Jon) Hargis, Elizabeth (Robert) Wetzel, Carolan Nowlan, Thomas Nowlan and Margaret Nowlan.
John was the last surviving sibling of 7: Margaret Nowlan Cavanagh, Edward Nowlan S.J., Gertrude Nowlan McGinn, Frank Nowlan, James Nowlan and George Nowlan (AKA Danny Davis).
Born in Boston, MA and originally residing in Dorchester, he lived for many years in Needham and Centerville, MA as well as Fredericksburg VA and Estero FL. John was a veteran of the US Army and served as an officer in the Counter Intelligence Corps during WW II. He retired after a long career in the wholesale grocery industry. He had a great fondness for music and the entertainment business, having produced many celebrity musical events in the 1940’s and took great pride in the musical accomplishments of many family members.
Friends may call Thursday, December 29 from 9:00-10:30 AM at Doane, Beale & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main St, Centerville. Interment to follow in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.
