Jim Ruberti, 87, raconteur extraordinaire, tour guide, teacher (Barnstable High School – 30 years), actor, director, football player (Fitchburg High, UMass Amherst), Marine, lover of adventure, and local Barnstable legend, passed away peacefully July 3rd, 2023 at Cape Cod Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was beloved by all who knew him. His positive attitude towards the world and its curious inhabitants made anyone who interacted with him feel important and appreciated. He possessed a gentle, disarming humor that drew you in, while his joie de vivre held you firmly in thrall.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Patricia (Molloy), his three children, Kristin Aconfora (Sam), Jeff (Monica Grewal), and James (Abigail). He lived to see his eight grandchildren, Dane, Kate and Angelica (Aconfora); Justin Krasinski and Anika Ruberti; James, Will and Scott Ruberti, grow into remarkable adults and through the birth of two great grandchildren, Elliott and Pearl. He was the last remaining son of James Vincenzo and Assunta (Diodati) Ruberti of Fitchburg, MA and brother to Elvio (Al), Aurelio (Babe), Christina (Jankowski) and Sylvio, all of whom predeceased him. He leaves behind a wonderful network of nieces and nephews, and a large diaspora of former students.
Services for his interment are private, but a celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 12th from 9:00 am – 12 pm at the Barnstable High School Performing Arts Center.
