James Francis Brown

Born in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Gid H. and Beatrice M. (Landry) Brown. Jim was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School in Cambridge, MA, Class of 1955. After graduating, he joined the Massachusetts National Guard, being honorably discharged in 1967. He spent a few years driving trucks before entering the Massachusetts State Police Academy on July 5, 1967, graduating on September 22, 1967. He retired from the Massachusetts State Police in November of 1987 and worked for BayBank/Bank of America in the Security Investigation Division until his retirement in 2002.

Jim’s favorite things to do were anything that involved going out, whether it was going out for a meal or going to a festival, going on a trip or just going out for a ride. He was a life-long sports enthusiast, both playing and watching, and was always planning ‘the next’ golf trip. Jim also enjoyed reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles and growing vegetables.

Jim is survived by, and will be deeply missed by, his long-time partner, Jane Kimball of Whitman and his daughter, Susan Ellen brown of Hyannis.

Jim’s funeral mass will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main Street, Centerville, MA 02632. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
