Frank Ernest Eldridge, 89, of West Yarmouth, MA passed away at his home on Monday, April 10, 2023 with his beloved daughter Cindy by his side. He was the loving husband of 57 years to the late Marjorie (Halewood) Eldridge.
Born in Thomaston, ME, Frank was the son of the late Ernest and Mabel (Burns) Eldridge. He was raised in New Hampshire and lived in Boston, MA before moving to Cape Cod 36 years ago.
Frank received his Agriculture degree at the University of New Hampshire. He was a horticulturist for the Christian Science Benevolent Association in Brookline for several years. Frank was also a long-time member of the Dalhousie Masonic Lodge in Boston where he rose in rank and became a Master Mason.
After his retirement, and move to the Cape, Frank worked with Doane, Beal & Ames in Hyannis where he formed lasting friendships amongst his co-workers.
Frank felt at home on the Cape. He enjoyed birdwatching, gardening and landscaping. In the spring, he looked forward to the herring run and return of the beautiful osprey. He also enjoyed watching Cape Cod League baseball games.
Frank had the best smile and most beautiful blue eyes. He was a wonderful example of a Mason, he was kind, caring, and always had time for others and was the first to lend a hand to someone in need. Family was everything to Frank. His grandchildren affectionately called him “Papa” and he was extremely proud of all their accomplishments no matter how big or little.
In addition to his wife Marjorie, Frank was predeceased by his sister Abbigail E. Eldridge, his brother William Jonathan Fowler and his grandson Alexander Gadaire.
Frank is survived by his daughter Cindy Gadaire (her husband David), his son Frank Eldridge (his wife Fran) and his daughter Lynne Pawlowicz (her husband Steve). He also leaves behind his most cherished grandchildren Kalie Farina (her husband Devon), Elizabeth Gadaire, Kristyna Eldridge (her fiancée Nicholas Levesque), US Army Sergeant John Eldridge, Kenneth Pawlowicz and his adored great-grandson Henley Farina.
A masonic and graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Bayside Cemetery, 1345 Union Ave in Laconia, NH. Arrangements are under the direction of Doane, Beal & Ames in Hyannis.
