HYANNIS - Davis L. Plunkett, 69, former employee at the Cape Cod Times, died on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Plunkett, Craigville summer resident since 1955, moved permanently to Craigville in 1989. Previously he lived in Hyannis from 1971 to 1980. Childhood years were spent in Dedham.
Mr. Plunkett worked from 1975 to 1998 as a retail advertising salesman at the Cape Cod Times. He was a part
time tour director from 1990 to 1998, becoming a full time tour director for Paragon Tours, Fall River, upon his early retirement from the newspaper. Upon graduation from Michigan State University in 1966, he held a variety of advertising-related positions both in the Midwest and Boston areas.
Surviving are a son, Davis L. Plunkett, Jr. and granddaughter Chloe Plunkett of Maricopa, Arizona, and a daughter Jennifer S. Guite, her husband Todd, granddaughter Sierra and grandson Joshua Guite of Windham, Maine. He is predeceased by his wife, Andrea, who died in1985. Also surviving are his first wife, Ariel Patricia Drake, of Maricopa, Arizona, and a sister, Sarah Tossey and her husband Ken, plus a nephew and niece from Columbus, Ohio.
There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers a thoughtful kind deed toward one another would be appreciated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 421 Wianno Avenue in Osterville.
