William Faulkner Wickett was born January 1, 1930 in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. He was the first child born in the county that year. Bill passed away at home on October 20th surrounded by his wife and family.
Bill grew up in Eastern Oklahoma and graduated from Webbers Fall High School and Northeastern College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was on the last reconnaissance mission before a truce was signed. Bill moved to Huntsville in 1966 to work for the Army Ballistic Missile Agency and retired from federal service in 1989. He subsequently worked as a contractor for several years. Bill enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with his family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Lafayette Wickett and Hazel (Faulkner) Wickett. He leaves behind his wife, Shirley (Hampton); son, Paul (Lynn), and daughters, Pam Caruso and Peggy Kondik (John). He also leaves behind one sister, Clara Ellen Grove in Oklahoma. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Tracy Hopkins (Charles), Scott Caruso (Mandy), Jake Caruso (Cristina), Paul Wickett Jr. (Kristen) and Will Caruso. He also leaves behind 10 great grandchildren, Joseph, Hunter, Benjamin, Jackson, Jake Jr., Tommy, Laurie, Ethan, Cam and Cecilia Grace.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 3:00pm at Valhalla Memory Gardens in the Serenity Garden. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Mr. Wickett's memory would be appreciated.
