She preferred to be called Sally. She was born in St. Petersburg, FL, to Philip and Mildred Lumley. She attended Maryville College in East Tennessee where she met her future husband, John Williams. They were married in 1959 and moved to Huntsville, AL, in 1960.
Sally was an enthusiastic traveler, an animal lover and avid reader. With a smile on her face, she was a happy spirit. She worked 25 years as a library aide at Weatherly Elementary School, enjoying every minute. She has set foot on every state of the Union, seen the Midnight Sun at the North Cape and penquins on the snow of Antarctica. She had roamed from the Canadian Rockies to Moscow's Red Square to China's terra cotta warriors in Xian. She was a muscian and played the trumpet in high school, college and community bands.
Sally was the mother of a daughter, Anne, and a son, Steven, and had two granddaughters, Caitlin and Mia.
