Sandra Jean Rittner Owens

On February 6, 1965, a man by the name of Robert Rittner escorted his beautiful young daughter to the front of Mignon Baptist Church in Sylacauga, AL. There he presented her to a young man destined to be his son-in-law Boyd C. Owens. In the ceremony that followed, Sandra Jean Rittner appended ‘Owens’ to her name. Thus began a relationship that could only have been ordained of God. Since that time, Sandy was a true life’s companion for 58 years.

Sandra was a member of First Baptist Church in New Hope, Alabama. She was a kind and caring woman who loved her family. She loved to sew and crochet, and she kept a neat house.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Boyd C. Owens; daughters, Kerry Lemley, Stephanie Owens Davis (William), Susan Watson (Michael); grandchildren, Katrina Watson, Ashley Conner, and Cody VanOosten.

Preceding her in death are her parents Robert and Billie Rittner, as well as daughter Wendy VanOosten.

Mr. Owens would like to thank everyone for the prayers that have been offered up and the support that has been given to him and, his wife, during her illness. "I won’t tell her goodbye, because the separation is only for a moment. I’ll see her later on the other side."

Visitation for Sandra will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation will be a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel.
