Sandra "Sandy" Mayes Miller, age 70, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Sandra was born in Huntsville, AL, but lived in Ryland most of her life. For those who knew her, she was loving, generous, and fiery as well, with a compassionate heart, a wonderful laugh, and an uncanny ability to recall at will every rock and roll song and the artists, her favorite being The Beatles. She spent her time antiquing at her favorite spot ‘Roosters’, and never failed to surprise with a ‘little gift’ most time when Anyone in our family would visit ‘Aunt Sandy’ had a little something for you.
She was always thinking of others, and it gave her joy to give these things and she did that a lot. Her other love was Alabama Football, and specifically in the past years a great crush on one Mr. Nick Saban, ‘That man is gorgeous’, she would say. Her most unselfish existence came as a caregiver to her mother before she passed away and to her sister whom she loved dearly, who survives her, providing a ride to the store or pharmacy and companionship to the end. She is now at peace in Heaven with her beloved husband Duane Miller.
Although God never Blessed her with children of her own, she is survived as ‘Aunt Sandy’ by Jeremey and Jonathan Hodges, to whom she was a second mom, Emily, Katie and Gabe Hodges, Luke and Lena Parker, all to whom she was a second Grandmother, her loving sister Patricia Mayes Hodges, and her rascal cat Bailey. Her heart was so big, she did not have an easy life, and she will be missed greatly by ALL.
A Memorial Gathering for Sandy will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811.
