October 3, 1957 – November 20, 2018
On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, Sandra Denise Huffstetler Carter, loving daughter, wife, mother, and Nana passed away suddenly at the age of 61. Sandra was born on October 3, 1957 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to Barbara and Samuel Huffstetler. On April 15, 1978, she married Jimmy Carter. They raised two children, a daughter, Morgan, and a son, Jason.
Sandra enjoyed many activities during her life. She loved to decorate and would constantly look through home magazines, shop at antique shops, wander around home stores, and tour houses. Her love of decorating also spread to such activities as scrapbooking, taking photos, and working as a Realtor. Sandra loved to travel and was able to take several trips with her family and friends. Dancing was a passion in her earlier years including being a member of the Johnson High School dance team. She retired from the US Army Aviation and Missile Command, Chief Information Officer (CIO-G6), following 36 years of federal service. She enjoyed being a member of Cove Church and spending time with her C-Group. The last several years, she had developed a love of reading and could often be found sitting in her favorite chair in the living room reading a novel.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Samuel, and her mother, Barbara. She will be forever remembered by her loving husband Jimmy, their two children, Morgan (Chris) and Jason (Brooke), her caring stepmother Glenda, her sister Susan (JT), her brother Sam, Jr. (Kim), her brother-in-law William, Jr. (Barbara), her sister-in-law Kim (Terry), her step sister Dana (Greg), her step sister Cindy (Tommy), and her two precious grandchildren Madison and Thomas. She will also be forever remembered by her numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and dear friends.
A Celebration of Sandra’s life will be held at 6:00pm, on Friday, November 30, at The Ledges. (32 Castle Down Drive, Huntsville, Alabama). Pastor Todd Owens will be officiating.
