Robert Keith Kvammen, age 59 of Huntsville, Alabama passed away June 21, 2024. Robert was born in Ridgecrest, California December 24, 1964. Robert and his brother Gary enjoyed an adventurous childhood, participating in a variety of sports, including dirt bike riding around the Mojave Desert and creating lifetime friends. As a teenager, Robert began boxing that continued throughout his time in the military, which led to competing at the Olympic trials. Robert retired after 20 years in the military with combined active duty, National Guard, and US Army Reserves service. Following his retirement, he became a proud, full time grandfather creating memories, being actively involved with the grandchildren’s sports, and passing on all his stories and wisdom to Keith, Kellie, and Mavis. Robert’s proudest achievement was being a grandfather, earning him the name, Proud Papa.
Anyone who knew him knew all about “his” little Viking kids that looked just like him. Robert lived every day, fully embracing every small detail, and having a life full of experiences with a smile, and trying to make everyone around him laugh and have a good time. Robert would always seek “something cool” to check out on a road trip, vacation, around town or in the backyard. Even if this meant he stay up through the night to drive a few hours there and back, with a huge smile on his face, saying “oh this is so cool”.
Any small moment or achievement, Robert would go above and beyond and treat it as a victorious celebration while making sure you knew how awesome it was. Robert’s positivity, humility, generosity, and curious nature was infectious, creating friends and acquaintances everywhere he went. To carry on Robert’s way of making a memorable life, means taking those extra 30 minutes to go see something cool, enjoying every little detail you see throughout the day no matter how small it is, and just wanting to get every last experience out of every day. Robert truly appreciated all the little things life had to offer. His greatest wish was to watch his grandkids grow, and for them to have fond memories to pass on to their families.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother Elaine; father Gary; his best friend Jim Fowler; Grandparents Roy and Grace Evenson; Alfred and first wife Eleanor, then second wife Ethel Kvammen; and his Uncle Roger Evenson.
