Robert graduated from Deshler High School in Tuscumbia and went on to graduate from Athens University before finally graduating from Widener University Law School.
Robert was an EMT in both Huntsville, AL and Seymour CT after which becoming a Decatur AL and a Shelton, CT police officer. He then became a lawyer and a judge for the State of Delaware. Robert was also a private pilot and loved to fly. Besides flying, Robert enjoyed all kinds of trains and reading. He loved animals of all kinds, and he was a great advocate for animal rescue.
Robert married Eveline McGowan, and they were happily married for 44 years. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Eveline (Lynn), and his daughter, Heather Lynn Armstrong, two brothers, Wayne Armstrong of Fayette AL and James Armstrong, of Athens AL, as well as three aunts, Martha Black of Cullman AL, Ellen McKee of Hayden, AL, and Helen Mitchell of Adamsville, AL. He has three nephews, one niece and several great nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held on July 22, 2023 at the Gurley Church of Christ at 2 o’clock with a reception following. If anyone would like to give a donation in his name, please give to an animal rescue or no-kill shelter.
