Paul Louis Becker, aged 80, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2019 due to complications from diabetes and heart disease. Paul was born May 6, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Cornelius Becker and Cecilia Kohl.
In 1959, Paul married Rebecca Louise Mahaffey in San Antonio, TX, while stationed at Fort Sam Houston. This was the beginning of a career in the army that lasted 26 years and spanned the globe. Paul’s military service included tours of duty in Vietnam and South Korea, with assignments ranging from Germany to Hawaii and many other locations throughout the country. After military retirement, Paul and Rebecca fulfilled their lifelong plans to return to San Antonio to enjoy retirement in the warmth of south Texas.
Paul is survived by his sons and daughter; Stephen of Madison, AL, Eric of San Antonio, and Gretchen of Dunwoody, GA; brother Michael of Streetsboro, OH; four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
There will be a visitation at 11am on May 7, 2019 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Road, Madison, AL 35758, followed by the funeral at noon. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Paul may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
