Mildred Pauline Smith was born to Albert Smith and Annie Mae Sexton Smith on November 14, 1925 in Jackson County, Alabama. She died on August 29, 2023 at the age of 97, less than three months before her 98th birthday.
She married Houston Elmo Hastings on November 2, 1946 at the age of twenty. They had five children and were married 53 years before his death in November 1999.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Annie Mae Smith; her husband, Elmo Hastings; a brother, Edward Smith; one son, Carey Hastings, and three grandchildren, Shelby Hastings, Lee Hastings, and Kristen Hastings.
She is survived by four children, Phil Hastings, Kent Hastings, Mark Hastings, & Wendy Hastings; one sister, Charita Avery; thirteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
There will be a graveside service on Friday September 1, 2023 at 11AM in the Garden of Good Shepherd 698 Winchester Rd NE Huntsville, AL 35811.
