Mary E. Porter born “Maria Estolia Armijo Manzanarez” on October 20, 1929 to Juan and Simona Armijo in Questa, New Mexico and she passed away on September 23, 2020 at the age of 90 years young. She was married to Bruce L. Porter for 60 years until his passing on December 9, 2013. She was a devoted wife and mother. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Brookside Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas. She was a hard worker and worked several jobs over the years and retired from Chesebrough-Ponds USA Inc., in 1983. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee, knitting/crocheting, gardening, and visiting with family and friends.
She was survived by her brothers, Amos Armijo (Esther), Robert Armijo, sister, Emily “Mila” Leszczynski, Sister-in-Law, Margaret Hurt. Children, Raymond Porter, Thom Porter (Connie), John Porter (Pam Pruitt), Patty Gregg (Tinsley), Elisa Lankford (Keith Adcock), and Theresa Gentle (Scott); 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and two more great-grandchildren on the way. Along with many beautiful nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clark Armijo, Frank Armijo, Herman Armijo, Atilano Armijo, Johnny Armijo; Sister, Lola Malacara; and granddaughter, Paula Turner.
Services will be at Valhalla Funeral Home on Sunday, September 26th, with Visitation from 1:00pm until 3:00pm, Celebration of Live will begin at 3:00pm in the Chapel and Graveside Services will follow directly afterward at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Services will be officiated by her son, Rev. Thom Porter, Pastor at The Elkmont United Methodist Church, Elkmont, AL. Pallbearers are her granddaughters, Brandy Eakin,
Melanie Gregg, Kala Ray, Mary Ann Locke, Tracy Porter Valenzuela and Shanda Porter.
