LYLE THOMAS TORONGEAU August 23, 1937 – August 21, 2015 Lyle Thomas (Tim) Torongeau, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Born August 23, 1937 in Pontiac, Michigan, he was the 5th of 6 children. Mr. Torongeau was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Flossie Gendron Torongeau; and 2 brothers, Paul and Robert (Bob) Torongeau. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of close to 60 years, Rosemary Quiel Torongeau; 3 sons, Tim (Kelley) Torongeau of Conifer, Colorado, Lyle Thomas (Sheila) Torongeau, Jr. of Huntsville, Vincent Oliver (Candice) Torongeau of Iva, South Carolina; 3 sisters, Avis Janneck of Trenton, Michigan, Joyce Quiel and Audrey Catlin of Sebring, Florida; 8 grandchildren, Tina and Timothy Torongeau, Amber Martel, Dawn Mason, Mindy Torongeau, Samantha and Lance Torongeau and Christopher Foster; 9 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends. After retiring as a proud veteran of the US Marine Corp with 20 years of service, he went on to work in Civil Service for another 20 years before his retirement there. He was a devout Catholic and a very active, long time member of Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. Tim, as most people knew him, loved life in an almost childlike way. He was an avid fisherman and a great square dancer and round dancer too. He and Rosemary danced in events all over America! He was great with his hands and loved carpentry, woodworking, and playing organ. Family values were most important to him, and he looked forward to family game night every week. Lyle (Tim) Torongeau was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him! A funeral Mass officiated by Father Joy Nellissery will be held at Our Lady Queen of Universe Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 3:00PM. The inurnment, with Military Honors, will take place on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Chattanooga National Cemetery commencing at 2:30PM.
