Lois Frances Wagner, 83, of Toney, Alabama passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Kenneth Charles Wagner and Frances Lucie (Rauschkolb) Wagner. Lois would tell you she waited a long time for this moment and was so excited to meet Jesus face to face!
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Susan Keegans (Doug) of Toney, AL, and Karen Andersen (Tom) of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Sergej Keegans, Mike Andersen, Jessica Tatko (Noah) and Andrew Andersen; great-grandchild: Juliet Tatko; brother: Ken Wagner (Karen), multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her precious sidekick pup, Mindy.
Lois was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 17, 1939. She later moved to South Florida where she lived life on her terms from 1969 until early 2022 when she relocated to be near her daughter in Alabama. She was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church in Port St. Lucie, Florida until moving where she attended Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Madison. Both church families meant the world to her. She was an avid prayer warrior, kept an ongoing prayer list in her Bible, and faithfully prayed for people daily.
Lois was a friend to everyone and met many great people as she walked Mindy multiple times each day! As a retired preschool teacher, she enjoyed working with young children. She cherished reading children's books and often volunteered in the children's ministry at her church. She loved crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, reading, editing and being the grammar police. She loved almost anything that challenged her extensive vocabulary. She was an avid animal lover who spent time volunteering with the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast and cherished her precious pup Mindy. She loved classical music, classic movies, and ice cream, lots of ice cream! She was extremely philanthropic and supported many children's ministries and animal rescue groups. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, their families, and spoke of them all frequently.
Lois would want to be remembered for her love for all of her family and her love for children and animals. She would most want to be remembered for her deep faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She always said that Christians never say goodbye for the last time. Lois is now reunited with family and many pets that have gone before her. She is peacefully asleep in Jesus, but will forever be missed by her family and friends until we all meet again!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church and School (https://www.christpsl.org/) or Friends of Rescue (https://forrescue.net/) in Lois’ honor.
