LEON MABERN BURTON June 14, 1929 – August 6, 2016 Leon M. Burton, 87, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at Huntsville Health and Rehab. Mr. Burton went to be with his Lord and Savior just a few days behind his loving wife and companion of 66 years-Kathrine Burton. He was preceded in death by her; and his parents, Jack and Audie Higgins Burton; one brother, Winston Burton; and one sister, Aletta Brumett. Left to cherish his wonderful memory are his children-his son, Ken Burton (Ginger) of Pike Road, AL; and his daughter, Malinda Martin (Eddie) of Grayson, GA; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and several other dear friends and relatives. Leon and Kathrine were faithful members of the Church of Christ Community in Huntsville-having served at Mayfair Church of Christ for the past 25 years, and West Huntsville Church of Christ for 40 plus years before that. Leon was deeply rooted in his faith, having served as a deacon, elder, worship leader, chorus director and bible class teacher for over 65 years. He was a kind hearted, encouraging, generous and loving individual who was deeply loved and respected and will be greatly missed by all who knew him!
