Joy Miyoko Copeland

Joy Miyoko Copeland, 85 of Huntsville, AL passed away on December 19, 2018. Joy was born in Yokohama, Japan on July 19, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Copeland, Sr.; son, James V. Copeland, Jr.; mother, Yoshi Yamazaki; brothers, Rikio Yamazaki and Tatsuo Sato.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jon “David” Copeland, daughter, Jeanette Chudy (Andy), daughter, Judy Looney (Lee), daughter, Joan Copeland, son, Jerry Copeland, Sr. (Jenna); sister, Teruko Ishige (Mikio), sister, Tamako Suzuki; niece, Yumiko Imasato (Keiichirou), niece, Masako Ishige Nakano (Takao), niece, Shizuka Hinosawa (Shinichi); 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; family friend, Laura Taube.

Joy came to America with her husband, James when she was 19 years old where she raised her six children. She was a wonderful mother, wife, sister and friend to so many. She will be greatly missed.

You may visit with the family on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Valhalla Funeral Home from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Funeral Services, officiated by Pastor Terry Thomas will begin at 1:00pm in Valhalla’s Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in the Masonic Garden.
