Jo Ann Moore, 73 of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at her home on August 9, 2019 after an extended illness. Jodi was born in Bristol, Tennessee where she grew up just a few houses down from Richard Moore, her husband of 39 years.
Jodi was a caring and loving wife and mother who served others above herself throughout her life. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, camping, boating, and spending time with family. Jodi was an Army wife who spoke fondly of their time spent deployed to Germany, the life-long friends made there and the family trips it afforded. After moving to Huntsville, Alabama, she worked for United Space Boosters International, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Girls, Inc., and Amtrust Financial Services.
Jodi is survived by loving partner Bob Collins, her brother Jimmy Jarrett and his wife Tonya; sister Mary Perry and her husband Gary; daughter, Kim Hames; son, Jimmy Moore and his wife Megan; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Moore and son-in-law Richard Hames.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 13 at 10:00 am at Valhalla Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home chapel. Officiant will be Pastor Terry Jackson of Christ Church of North Alabama. Interment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Hospice of North Alabama, or Christ Church of North Alabama.
