Jesse was born on November 22, 1935 in Quinton, Oklahoma. He graduated from Quinton High School. He later took training to work as a draftsman for the Boeing Company, and was transferred to the Huntsville, Alabama facility.
Jesse also worked for many years as an estimator for Shelby Contracting Company in Huntsville, Alabama, and lastly as a consulting estimator until he retired in July 2017.
In his younger years he loved to play sports, then in later years he enjoyed watching sports on television. Once an avid NASCAR fan, he cheered for his favorite drivers, went to several races, and even raced around the track himself at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.
He was also a big fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football (one more Roll Tide for Jesse!), and watched all their games.
He was a top-notch “Mr. Fix-It” and was continually building things and tinkering around the farm. He enjoyed looking after the many different kinds of animals on the farm, from chickens, to sheep and goats, and even a llama.
Most of all, he loved people. He enjoyed talking and joking with everyone he knew. He enjoyed the people he worked with and celebrated every day.
As long as he was able, he was a member of the church choir and loved going to choir practice, and singing praises on Sunday morning. He had a special place in his heart for his choir friends and the members of his Sunday School class.
Jesse had a gift for getting along with just about everyone. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his big heart for his family and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 29, from 12 until 2pm at Valhalla Funeral Home with the funeral service commencing directly after visitation, at 2pm.
