Janet Leigh Hall Vines passed on January 8, 2023 due to complications with cancer treatment and recovery. She was born on August 1, 1953 to Ruby Dell and Matthew Harvard Hall in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Janet was from a family of educators and retired from the Madison County School system after a combined 35 years of service. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her two daughters, Miranda Dell Evans (James) and Shonna Lynn Rickard (Ray), and four grandchildren: Alexis Evans, James Evans, Olivia Evans and Elizabeth Rickard, and her two brothers: Sam Hall (Dawn) and Matt Hall (Kristy).
Janet had a lifelong love of reading and was never far from her current novel. She was known at Mt. Carmel Elementary to have a book for every occasion and was always willing to share with both students and teachers. She was an amazing mentor to her daughters, granddaughters, and other teachers throughout her career. Her infectious laugh and sense of humor could fill a room and she had the ability to shed light even in the darkest hour. Additionally, Janet was an avid crafter, cake maker, and candy decorator. She was a heavy metal enthusiast and enjoyed attending concerts. Janet was known to throw down in the kitchen using her love of cooking to spread joy to others.
Janet spent her life in service to others. After a fulfilling teaching career, she often volunteered in her granddaughter’s classroom and supported her daughter’s students. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to outstanding lunch accounts at a local school or to a local public or school library.
A celebration of life service will be conducted on January 12th at Valhalla Funeral Home in Huntsville, Alabama between 4:00 and 6:00 P.M. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.valhallafunerals.com for the Vines family.
