Born on September 23, 1932, in Somerset, Kentucky, Jim was the youngest child of Charles Franklin Denny and Margaret Duncan Denny. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charles F. Denny Jr. and William Denny; his sisters, Elizabeth Denny Hines and Mary Jane Denny Wesley; and his granddaughter, Kelly Marie Thayer.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Katherine Wilson Denny; his son, James Gordon Denny Jr. (Sue); his daughters, Jane Denny Locke (Tommy) and Carol Denny Thayer (Dave); six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Jim served during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked as an engineer on the Patriot Missile Long Range Defense System for 35 years, contributing to national defense with dedication and skill.
Jim had a lifelong passion for University of Kentucky basketball and found joy in simple pleasures—fishing, tinkering in the garage, and watching hummingbirds visit his yard. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always present as a supportive and loving Grandad.
His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May his memory bring comfort and inspiration to all whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers.
