

Hilda Rhoads Fowler, age 79, of Hazel Green, Alabama passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Hilda was a faithful servant to her faith in the Baptist church. She was used in so many ways as a leader in many congregations. Hilda was very well studied in the Bible and enjoyed learning and sharing the word with others. She was a very talented musician. Hilda played organ and piano in many congregations over the years.
Hilda was a dedicated wife, mother, and breast cancer survivor. Her gift of providing peace was always present. She balanced home, work, her children’s lives, her grandchildren’s lives, and her church life with such ease. “Making lists is the key to everything”. Hilda’s impeccable attention to detail was invaluable to so many facets of her life.
Hilda enjoyed a long and successful career with the Department of the Army at Redstone Arsenal. Receiving many awards during her tenure, including the commander’s award for civilian service and achievement medal for civilian service. Hilda retired from her federal service April 30,2007.
Hilda is preceded in death by her parents Berry Frank Rhoads and Roxie Crabtree Rhoads, her brothers Dennis Rhoads, Willard Rhoads, Hulen Rhoads, Buford Rhoads, Riley Rhoads, and sister Nell Rhoads Perry Pierson.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister Junita Little, her sons Jason and Kyle Fowler, her daughter in law Shelania Fowler, her son in law James Avera, her beloved granddaughters, Roxi and Stella Fowler, and her sister in laws, Gladys Elliott and Gail Lamons.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel. Hilda will be laid to rest at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
