Frances Jean Upton

August 19, 1950 -- April 9, 2018

Frances J. Upton, 67, passed away peacefully Monday morning at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Upton was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Tressie Barnett Jones; her loving husband of close to 40 years, J. E. Upton; her brother, Wayne Jones; and her sister, Jane Sadler.

Left to cherish her precious memory are her 5 daughters; Tammy Kuilderd (Herold) of Huntsville, Ronda Mefford (Chris) of New Hope, Sandra Wood, Jenny Clark (Randall), and Jessica Upton; her 4 brothers, David Jones (Vickie) of Madison, Eddie Jones (Genia) of Cullman, Donnie Jones (Faith) of Athens, Thomas Jones (Wanda) of New Hope; 1 sister, Judy Walker(Robert) of Sommerville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and several other relatives and friends.

Frances was a strong woman who loved life and family. “Nanny”, as most dear friends and family called her, loved all things beautiful and enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and baking. She was a long-time member of the Eagles Auxillary and quite involved with that organization for a number of years. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Frances Upton was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her!

You may visit with the family at Valhalla Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00pm. There will be a funeral service conducted by Pastor Jimmy Brantley in Valhalla’s chapel commencing at 2:00pm. The interment will immediately follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens Last Supper garden.
