Mother Florean Hope, 77, of Toney, AL, passed away on June 28, 2024. She was born to Thelma L. Hubbard-Gulley and Henry J. Gulley on September 27, 1946 along with her twin sister Emmalean in Sacramento, CA.
She was mostly educated in the Sacramento and Denver Public Schools after their mother relocated them to Denver.
Mother Florean became a young mother at the age of 15 years old and relocated back to Sacramento. Eventually becoming a mother of four beautiful and loving children. In Denver, she reconnected with her first love Danny Hope with whom she lived life and celebrated 25 years of marriage.
One of Mother Hope pursuits was cosmetology school, but circumstances prevented her from completing the training causing her to move her family to Denver. However, she continued to style hair for family and friends for decades.
Later in her professional life Mother Florean began working as a cashier at Econo Drug Store in Denver. She was later hired on as a full-time cashier and her career with Food World began for the next 20+ years until she retired.
She was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Sacramento, CA. Mother Florean later became a member of Scott United Methodist Church in Denver, CO.
In 2013, after a few years of retirement Mother Florean relocated to Huntsville, AL to reside with her oldest daughter Noretta and son-in-love Bishop Ernest Edwards. She became an active member of True Light COGIC, then an active member of United In Love Ministries were she was appointed as the Church Mother.
Her beloved older sisters Leona Franklin, Noretta Mayberry, and her youngest son Julius C. Muhammad preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved twin sister Emmalean Cousins; two daughters, Noretta (Ernest) Edwards and Regina Brown, one son, Donnie (Cheryl) Smith, two god-daughters Vera (Nana) Fernandez and Makia Shante Birch, eight grandchildren, TaHasha Muhammad, Khaleefa Muhammad, Marsena Edwards, Farrakhan (LaQuita) Muhammad, Armani L. Washburn, Ashia Muhammad; Khadir Muhammad and Sabir Muhammad: and six great-grandchildren. Along with a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. She will be greatly missed and well - remembered.
Mother Hope will have a public viewing Friday July 5, 2024 from 6 pm - 7 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811.
Mother Hope will lie in repose on Saturday July 6, 2024 from 10 am until her Homegoing Service at 11 am in Valhalla's Celebration Chapel.
