Fern D. Clark, 78, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at her daughter Freda’s home in Toney, Alabama. Fern was born in Lawrence County, Tennessee, and moved to Madison County, Alabama in 1963. Fern was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Alton Ray Clark; parents, Louis Fred Weeks and Gladys Garret Weeks; two brothers, Raymond Weeks and Leroy Weeks; son-in-law, Ted Cain. Mrs. Clark leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Freda Cain and Michelle Clark; one son, Phillip Clark (Tammy); one brother, Mark Weeks; one sister, Faye Maddox; five grandchildren, Jeremy Brown (Jodie), Matthew Clark, Joshua Clark, Mandy Clark, and Taylor DuPre; three great-grandchildren, Blaine Brown, Sierra Brown, and Brileigh Moore; one great-great-granddaughter, Isabella Brown.
Mrs. Clark worked in retail serving the public at JCPenny for many years. Upon leaving retail, she was a housekeeper for private residences until her retirement. She was a volunteer with the March of Dimes—a nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved cooking for her family and always made the holidays special. In her later years, she enjoyed going to yard sales on the weekend to find clothes for her grandchildren. She often worked in the yard taking care of her flowers and picking fresh vegetables from the garden. After her husband’s passing, she was cared for by her daughter, Freda, until her passing from late stage Alzheimer’s. Mrs. Clark will forever hold a special place in the hearts of many.
You may visit with the family Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Valhalla from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held the same day, November 27, 2018 at 2:00 P.M., in Valhalla’s Chapel. Interment will immediately follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
