Elizabeth Cutrona was born in Chicago on March 31, 1936. Her parents, Pasquale and Lucia (Torregianni) Cutrona, had six children when Elizabeth and her twin Catherine were born. Elizabeth attended Chicago public schools, graduating from Lakeview High School in 1954. She earned an Associates degree from North Park College in 1956.
She and her first husband had two children, Daniel and Carol. Elizabeth was a homemaker while the children grew. She was active in church activities, leading the nursery for seven years. She later worked as a bookkeeper for various companies.
A cancer diagnosis in 1974 led to the dissolution of her marriage. In 1978 she found love with Paul Englund, recently widowed by the death of her twin, Catherine. They married on November 4, 1978 and settled in Honolulu until job transfers took them to German in 1982 and Huntsville, Alabama in 1991.
She loved to do crossword puzzles and cross-stitch. Later arthritis led her to knitting baby blankets for friends and family. Extra blankets went to a Pro-Life organization in honor of her adopted children.
Elizabeth and Paul travelled extensively. Her favorites were Hawaii, Israel and New Zealand. She loved cruising.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mary, Ann, Virginia, and Catherine; brothers Pat and Joseph, and daughter Carol (Steve) Bocek. She is survived by husband Paul, son Daniel (Danielle) Karmgard, brother Peter (Barbara) Cutrona, Steve Bocek and Lori Lundberg.
A Visitation for Elizabeth will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Calvary Bible Church, 607 Drake Avenue SE, Huntsville, Alabama 35802, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00pm.
